How the Writing Journey Began

Like everyone else, I have always been enlightened and disheartened by the world: but I decided to process these emotions through writing. I wrote my first poem at age eight. I continued writing poetry and working on my craft to this very day. I plan to publish a book of poetry as well. Many of my poems are faith-based, but I also write on many topics.

I started writing fiction at age eight too. However, my first piece of fiction was a work in progress. I have come a long way as a person, and so has my writing. The first fiction I wrote as a child was about stealing a polar bear from a zoo to keep it from danger. Great concept, but I hope it never sees the light of day. It wasn’t strongly executed. I learned that it’s okay to write from the heart and go where your hand takes you in free form, but at the end of the day, things take time to develop. I am not the same writer or person I was before.

I pride myself in the fact that June’s Faith is a novella consisting of only about 10,000 words. I heard this insightful observation once: put the pen down; if you continue writing, it will no longer be your story. I think I wrote the story I wanted to write with June Faith. I really hope this novella captivates your attention, makes you think, and grows your faith just a little bit more.
